SAN DIEGO, September 18, 1998 – Bank of America announced last night that EDmin, Inc. has been selected to receive its 1998 Enterprise Award Grand Prize of $10,000. EDmin also received the 1998 Enterprise Award for Most Innovative Product and Service.
"Small businesses make San Diego’s economy tick," said Doug Sawyer, BofA executive vice president. "We are looking to honor the best of San Diego’s small businesses, ones that push the limit, that set the pace."
EDmin, Inc. is a comprehensive technology company providing schools with the "next generation" of products and services to build the classroom of the future. According to company president Clayton Hoyle, "EDmin is a company of educators serving the needs of educators. Since 1989, we have helped over 1,000 schools, districts and educational agencies realize the power and potential of computer and Internet technologies. Our goal is to improve learning opportunities for all students."
"This 1998 Enterprise Award recognizes our vision of a ‘connected learning community,’" said Peter Sibley, executive vice president of EDmin. "Our innovative Virtual Education System and our Student Portfolio and Assessment System link academic content and performance standards. They help individual students, parents, educators, and community members know exactly how well our students are doing. In addition, these Internet-based programs help teachers to find more effective instructional strategies."
EDmin will be recognized for its achievements in educational technology at the prestigious Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce Insights World Conference to be held at the San Diego Convention Center on October 3.
This is the fourth year that the Bank of America has hosted the Enterprise Awards. Other sponsors of the Enterprise Awards include KyXy Radio, KFMB-TV Channel 8, and Hewlett-Packard.
